Originally released in 2005, Fjords is considered a modern classic. With its 2-part gameplay and tense decisions, we are now bringing this great game back – better than ever!
Fjords is back : what’s new?
- The art! Fjords now looks as stunning as its gameplay – thanks to artist Beth Sobel!
- The player count! Previously, Fjords was a 2-player only game. Now, we will be including the tiles, player pieces and rules to play the game with 2-4 players!
- New mini-expansion modules! Designed by famed game designer Phil Walker-Harding, should we reach our stretch goals (and if you add-on the KS-exclusive module) your copy of Fjords will include at least 7 new mini-expansions that can be included to your game in any number that you wish!
- Updated rules! With Phil’s help, we have also tweaked how the game plays and scores. We are also including the tiles and rules required to play the new EPIC 2-player variant for those who wish to play a longer, more challenging game 🙂 (Players who wish to play Fjords with the “classic” rules may still do so, and these will be included in the rule book.)
- The Price! No longer do gamers need to pay exorbitant prices on the second-hand market. And backers will be getting their game even cheaper and faster than retail stores!

All over the campaign, we’ll need you to unlock the Stretch Goals: new mini-expansions that can be added to your game in any number that you wish!
Exclusive add-ons
You will discover three exclusive add-ons!
- “The Secrets Runes” mini-expansion
This is a KS-exclusive mini-expansion that includes 4 rune stones, all with the symbol for “secrets” on them. These opens up the board and adds more possibilities for viking placements. - Bonus components to play the 2 “epic variant”
The new “epic” 2-player variant in the rule book could become THE way to play Fjords. It gives players the breadth and scope of the larger board used in a 4-player game, but while playing one-on-one. Add-on these extra wooden bits to play the epic game with a single colour per player! - And a 3rd one to discover later…

First, the players explore the Fjords around them by laying hexagonal landscape tiles. Second, beginning from the encampments placed during phase one, players will walk the landscape, claiming as much of the plains and cliffs as possible. The winner of the game will be the player who has claimed the most land. Savvy placements and the ability to plan ahead yet act tactically will be your most important tools. |
